Moonhill.ca

Web Design, Development & Digital Strategy
2019 to present

Moonhill.ca serves as the vibrant online home of Moonhill Garden and Farmstand—a community-rooted platform crafted entirely in-house to embody the values and personality of a specialty food and garden business.

Context & Problem:

Moonhill Garden needed a dedicated digital presence to connect with local customers, promote seasonal offerings, and foster community engagement. To streamline site management, the project also required a flexible publishing system for timely updates on fresh produce, events, and operational changes.

  • Established clear information hierarchy, robust content strategy, and an accessible blog for ongoing communications
  • Prioritized local SEO and community outreach to drive traffic and foster meaningful visitor engagement

  • Enhanced site discoverability, increasing community awareness and walk-in traffic
  • Demonstrated comprehensive end-to-end web production: from branding and content planning to long-term digital stewardship for a growing rural business

Yoga Therapy International

Web Design, Development & Digital Strategy
2012–2019

For Yoga Therapy International, Nexia Design developed a mobile-friendly Drupal 7 site using the Omega theme. Working with photos from Michael Julian Berz and graphics from the project team, we built a media-rich hub that supported international students and trainers.

We integrated SoundCloud, Issuu, Mailchimp, and social sharing to extend program reach while ensuring usability and accessibility on a scalable digital platform to support its programs.

Context & Problem:

Yoga Therapy International needed a professional web presence to serve students, trainers, and international visitors with accessible resources and program materials. Their offerings were expanding, but the existing site lacked scalability, media integration, and mobile readiness—limiting reach and usability for prospective students.

Approach:

  • Implemented Drupal 7 with Omega Theme, ensuring mobile-friendly, accessible design.
  • Integrated SoundCloud, Issuu, Mailchimp, and social sharing for a media-rich learning hub.
  • Customized theme graphics with partner designers and optimized content for clarity.
  • Migrated and structured content for editors to easily manage updates.

Impact:

  • Created a central, mobile-accessible platform supporting hundreds of global students.
  • Increased program visibility through integrated media and newsletters.

Majie Art

Web Design & Development
2015-2016

Majie Art partnered with Nexia Design to build a vibrant online presence that would showcase his evolving art portfolio, promote upcoming gallery exhibitions, and engage art enthusiasts through newsletters. The project combined striking visual presentation with a flexible content strategy, ensuring that gallery updates and event promotions could be managed with ease.

Context & Problem:

Majie needed a dedicated, professional website to effectively display his artwork and publicize gallery shows. Without a streamlined digital platform, it was challenging to reach both local audiences and potential collectors beyond his immediate network. Additionally, managing exhibition news and newsletter signups had become time-consuming with existing tools.

Approach:

  • Developed a custom WordPress website tailored to highlight Majie’s art and creative vision
  • Created a dynamic, easy-to-update online gallery featuring visual collections and show details
  • Implemented clear information architecture and publishing workflows to simplify updates for editors
  • Integrated newsletter signup to support audience growth and ongoing engagement

In June 2025, the Tsilhqot’in Nation reached a historic agreement with the Province of British Columbia and Taseko Mines Limited that guarantees no mining or mineral exploration in the area can proceed without the free, prior, and informed consent of the Tsilhqot’in Nation. The website has been retired.

Teztanbiny.ca

Web Design & Development
2013–2014

Nexia Design rebuilt Teztanbiny.ca from a limited Tumblr site into a full-featured WordPress platform to support the Tsilhqot’in Nation’s campaign to protect Teztan Biny, Yanah Biny, and Nabas. The new site featured an image-rich, culturally respectful design with structured navigation to ensure visitors could easily find updates and calls to action. By implementing multi-editor workflows, we empowered community members to publish directly, expanding the site’s reach and reducing bottlenecks. The redesign strengthened advocacy efforts, improved credibility, and ensured the campaign’s messages could be shared widely at a crucial time.

Context & Problem:

The Tsilhqot’in Nation needed an online platform to protect Teztan Biny, Yanah Biny, and Nabas—areas of profound cultural and spiritual importance—during campaigns against mining projects. The existing Tumblr-based site was limited: hard to update, visually unclear, and unable to support multiple contributors. This reduced its effectiveness as a mobilization tool.

Approach:

  • Migrated content from Tumblr to a custom WordPress site with multi-editor workflows.
  • Designed an image-rich, culturally respectful interface to honor the land and cause.
  • Structured navigation to ensure information was easy to find and share.
  • Supported campaign needs by integrating updates, news, and calls to action.

Impact:

  • Strengthened public awareness and advocacy for the Tsilhqot’in Nation’s campaign.
  • Improved editor access, enabling community members to publish and manage content.
  • Enhanced clarity and credibility with a professional, media-rich design.

BC Council for International Cooperation

Web Design & Campaign Support
2010-2011

For the BC Council for International Cooperation, Nexia Design rethemed and developed their Drupal site to better showcase events, news, and member projects. Working with Emerald City Designs, we adapted campaign graphics into the platform, including the “Be the Change” postcard campaign. The improvements in information architecture and publishing workflows enabled editors to post more effectively, while the updated design increased visibility and credibility for the council and its 50+ member organizations. This project demonstrated how thoughtful CMS design can extend advocacy impact and empower non-technical contributors.

Context & Problem:

BCCIC provides a network and advocacy platform for British Columbia’s voluntary international development organizations. They needed an engaging web presence to highlight member projects, campaigns, and resources. Their Drupal installation was underdeveloped and lacked strong visual identity and usability. Members found it difficult to share their work effectively online.

Approach:

  • Rethemed and developed their Drupal site to highlight events, news, and member projects.
  • Collaborated with Emerald City Designs on campaign graphics and integrated them into the platform.
  • Improved usability by clarifying information architecture and streamlining publishing workflows.
  • Designed campaign collateral including the “Be the Change” postcard to extend outreach.

Impact:

  • Improved visibility of 50+ member organizations and their projects.
  • Enabled editors to more easily update and expand content.
  • Enhanced credibility and cohesion with a professional, branded site and campaign materials.
